The Art & Technique of the American Commercial

Tape Techinical Requirements

Only Digibeta tapes will be accepted.

If your entries are coming from outside the U.S., please make sure to state that the package has no commercial value for customs. We suggest, however, that you assign a minor value (i.e.: $5 U.S.) to your package for customs purposes only. You'll need a commercial invoice.

Single spots must be preceded by a :10 color bars/tone and a slate listing the brand name, the title of the spot and its length. Each entry must be on a separate reel. A single commercial being entered in multiple categories requires only one copy of a Digibeta.

For Campaign entries (Campaign category only) the 3 spots must be submitted on one reel, in the same sequence as their listing on all labels and forms. Only one :10 colorbars/tone and one slate are required. The slate must list brand name, title and length for each of the three spots in the order in which they appear. Each spot should be preceded by :3 of black.

Once you finalize your tape entry(s), you will be emailed a tape label; you will also have the option of downloading this label. This label must be attached to each tape box. The tape itself should be labeled with the following information: name of entrant (company), brand name advertised, and title and length of commercial.

You should also include a copy of your paid invoice or if paying by check, include the check and invoice in the package.
